Transgender!!! A Cursed Creature or a Human??

Transgender is becoming a common scenario in the western part of the world. But, here in Bangladesh Transgenders are not welcomed. They are not treated as human beings. In this Blog I’m sharing the story of Sadia, a transgender.

Sadia grew up as a male, but from the very beginning, Sadia’s behavior was like a female. For this, he had been teased from his childhood. At first it was only a few people and he bothered to give back any replies to them. He never even raised his voice against them. He ignored them, but deep inside he was becoming numb and depressed. Day by day this mental torture increased. He used to dance, and he was being teased for that as well. School, College and then University, everywhere he faced the same issues. Even when he tried to find a job, he had to face the consequences.
During an interview session, Sadia said, “I never liked my life as a male person, I always liked the lifestyle of a female. I had no problem with it, but the people around me were allergic to it. I tried to fix myself, but I realized that no matter how much I try I will never be able to fit in as a male.
In his 2nd year of University, he decided to go to a doctor. There he found out that, his body contains more female hormones than usual males. That is the reason behind why the doctor told him to decide what does he wants to be. He decided to become a transgender and from that time, he is known as Sadia.
According to him, it was a very hard decision. As he was a male, but he wanted to become a female. Moreover, the society has not yet made peace with this issue. People not only teased him, they also teased his family. Due to this reason, he was very much frustrated.
After the transformation, she is now having a very successful life. She works in a private company. Also, she is able to fulfill her passion as a professional dancer. She became self-dependent. But still, she has to stay away from her family. She talks to her mother, once or twice every 6months. Her father recently had a heart attack. And as she said, the heart attack was because of stress. The stress came from people around him mocking about his child.
According to Sadia, It was a very hard decision for her. She would never have done this. But she did it to get rid of the pain, frustration and anxiety. Now, people around her knows that she is a transgender and they have no problem about it. Though, people around her family are still mocking and teasing her family. That’s why she cannot go to visit them. She also added that, her family is okay with the transformation. Her parents told her that it is her life she can do anything that makes her happy. But as she is a girl now, her family wants her to get married. But she is afraid that it is not possible. Though, she is a female now, but people consider her as a transgender. People consider her as if she is a cursed creatures in the name of religion.
From my point of view, a person is not responsible for how he or she is born. However the person is born, he or she in a human first. They are different from normal male or female definition. But does it mean they are cursed? Do they really deserve being treated like cursed creatures? Or as humans, we have become so much inferior that we cannot show at least the minimum respect to them as a human?
